Post by Makaw on Sun 04 Dec 2011, 4:59 pm

Can someone please explain what this means?
Gold often "occur as lenses."
Does that mean a thin layer in metasediments?
Just reading some info on Trove website and cam across this statement, but google cant help me.
For anyone interested in research,,,, Trove is a great website, click digitilised newspapers at the top , and type in what ever your looking for..

Hi Makaw

In geology a lens is a body of ore or rock or a deposit that is thick in the middle and thin at the edges, resembling a convex lens in cross-section.

A lens can also refer to an irregular shaped formation consisting of a porous, permeable sedimentary deposit surrounded by impermeable rock...

Hope that helps man..

Nope but you gave me a headache... Too technical...
So basically a lens could be a low spot/ glory hole in the sediment, when gold gets trapped with wash over the top.
