DETECTOR INSURANCE

Post by Guest on Fri 06 Feb 2015, 7:44 am

With the price of a detector still a massive investment for a lot of us it would be paramount to have insurance.

anyone with a good insurance company and policy then fell free to enlighten everyone who may be contemplating a purchase.

even if u dont buy a 7K there are a lot of punters out there that have 2 or more detectors in the back of their car that may need a bit of safe keeping.

I use APIA (Aust Pensioners Insurance Agency) and the detectors' insurances are part of my house and contents insurance. They are listed on the policy as "extra value items" but cost me no extra premium. I have confirmed that they remain insured at times when the machines are in the truck or caravan. I also have my genny insured and my fridge/ freezer in the same manner.

Yep

I have them listed on the Home insurance also

Replacement value of $7k was a extra $8 per year

That covered for loss or Damage ( like driving over it ) Not that I have done it but anything could happen

I'm with HBF

I lost one hearing aid last year and APIA paid out on BOTH as they are a "paired set". That was a $10.5 k pay out. APIA never batted an eyelid. APIA - highly recommended.

I've got my detecting gear and firearms covered by HBF/CGU under my contents insurance or maybe not.
Seems to be a bit of a grey area and I'm still not sure if I'm covered even tho they say I am.
typical bloody insurance companies covering their own ar*ses.

I have them listed under "Special Items" or something like that but they need to be listed and you should be OK

Just check with them and they will tell you

Yep, Another old f**t with APIA, premiums may be a little higher than the average but they cover more if you read the fine print.

I was advised to join CMCA just for the insurance price. They came in $200 a year less for the motorhome than APIA where we got a discount for three other policies. I have to send them a few photos and a vehicle valuation before it's all sorted out. The excess is a lot less also $200 and $100 for a windscreen.
