Nice nugget for the ZED

Post by araratgold on Wed 04 Mar 2015, 2:15 pm

Gidday Guys,
My partner and I got a nice deeper one today with the ZED.
4.86 grams, 11 inches deep.
Difficult ground, general, gain at 14, no audio smoothing, threshold tone at 40 and level 26, auto ground balance.
You may notice the audio from the wireless module break up occasionally. We have found that it needs direct line of sight to the main screen part of the ZED to work properly, so as I move about digging it breaks up a bit.
Anyway, I hope this is enjoyable for some of you, the clip is filmed in HD.
I'm really liking the machine, and it's starting to produce the goods.
Cheers,
Rick and Kaye

Well done Rick, they are starting to get bigger I'm very happy for you.

I was a bit concerned when I heard that Zippppp sound , glad it was your pinpointer coming out!!!!

If you can, next target you get ,move around a bit so we can hear what ground noise is near the target and in the general area....just trying to hear how this bipper runs

Thanks Rick

Not at that part of the paddock due to long grass up til now, which the sheep have now kindly chewed down for us !  Very Happy

Would a 5000 have got that one with the big coil ?? My experience says probably yes, but who knows ?

So would you say the 7000 is a giant leap....a 20 inch coil will make things interesting....there are heaps of big bits deeper...lots of deep ground around.....many times i have thought the ground was shallow....then dug a deep bit.

It's definitely a leap, but I think it is constrained ATM by the smaller coil.  Wink
Having said that, it found that 2.4 grammer where I have carefully gridded with a 5000 fitted with 20 inch round mono in a variety of settings.
Wack a 20 inch on it though, and we could be seeing some Eureka moments !  Very Happy
Mind you, I'm not keen on the rumoured $2500 price tag for the big coil !   Shocked

I heard 2500 bucks for the 20 inch but its hard to believe. Do you think it would be too heavy with a 20 inch?

No idea yet ! You may only be able to swing it for an hour or two !

G'day Rick Very Happy

I would lean towards a big "Yes" with a 16" Mono or a 14"Coiltek DD Pro and the right settings.
My 2100 used to pull bits like that with a 17x11AI up at Jupiter Ck in SA scratch freaked me out scratch .

One thing that may be poking it's head up again is the fact that the z uses a DD coil configuration,
When the ground is a multi layered mineralization, like layer upon layer of separate and very
varying mineralization/magnetism the Mono coils can splay out the RX signal and not be punching through a few layers
to get us that perceived depth we think we're gettin, that's where a DD coil although not as sensitive will punch down hard
through them separate layers to where the deep gold sits...

I'm so happy for you Rick, keep it up mate your on a good run Wink

Pete Cool

PS - i suppose you've seen the planned burns gonna happen over at Beaufort in the next 10 days ?
Some big deep gold over that way.

Very nice piece Rick & Kaye

That warble / wobble in the tone was quite unique

but also helpful , in some way , to the shape .

Great
