May Trip in the Murchinson

Post by cruiser1 on Mon 08 Jun 2015, 6:48 pm

Just got back from a couple of weeks around the Sandstone/Meeka district. The group consisted of Kev(biggist kev) John(john f) Martin(martinjstone) and wife Karen, two dogs and a goldfish. There were others that also caught up for a few days making it eight vehicles in all at one stage.
A couple of days were spent at Lake Mason Stn which is run by Calm and bookings can be made through the Kalgoorlie branch of Calm. Was great for a stop over as it was raining that particular night and the hot shower provided by the donkey was really appreciated.
The weather was really good apart from the one night of showers and no vehicle problems was a bonus.Every one was blessed by the gold gods and I am sure the pics will follow shortly.
Here are a few pics of the trip.

Good to see the pic of the bread from the camp oven Kev and the gold, hopefully next trip you can stay on a little longer.
Was a good turn up for sure Cliff.Have left Martin on the gold for a few more days so will be interesting to see what he finds. We were thinking this spot might be good for the muster in August.
Have now included a pic of the gold.

The bread was more like a rock cake it looks like a rock and was just as hard, but the hungry buggers ate 2 loaves and nobody complained of food poisoning next morning, the grog would have killed the bugs.

hi guys, well that was a great trip with some good gold found by all. well over an oz between us and I got a few nice species to bash and see but a few grams in them for sure, one is a quartz beauty weighing 17.5g with lots of gold showing through and could go 10g in itself but im not smashing that one. my tally is 15 g of gold consisting of 30 pieces and the species. i also found two nice nuggets in conglomerate at a foot deep and had to chisel it out but the dirt still had a good sound to it so i took it all back home to pan.
