Boots or Whatever you use

Post by Bignuggs on Wed 12 Aug 2015, 6:14 pm

So, after using the 7000 for about an hour and digging lots of holes and finding out my so called "metal free boots" were giving off a signal, I did the week in thongs.
To be honest, it was comfortable in thongs, even with the lumpy ground.
So I got a  pro pointer today and ran it over my boots. The mongrels are not metal free.  There are 2 points on boots to check and you will find it's metal, if you have side zip boots.
What can I say about that, not much except the 7000 is deadly on surface stuff with ya shoes or boots.  The only thing I had at home was my good joggers, and no metal.
So it's shopping time for new boot, with no metal.
The 7000 is deadly, it just needs to walk over the filthy stuff and not ya boots  Razz

Oliver's AT work boots composite safety caps is what I use no problem here, or gumboots for the spinny or thongs for clear ground

Cliff, I would suggest Steel Blue metal free safety boots. Just like steel caps but plastic caps instead to get through airport security. I've gone through a few pairs and swear by them. Definitely no metal in them.

ASCENT Alpha - from Athletes Foot

Safety Toe (Epoxy Fibreglass) within the full grain leather upper. In addition to this the toe cap has also been reinforced with a thermoplastic toe protector increasing the durability of the upper. A firm thermoplastic heel counter adds rearfoot control by wrapping around the heel helping to reduce movement and prevent blisters. This is a totally steel free and Airport Friendly

Rossi elastic sides, comfortable and wear well. Apply dubbin to ours before each trip, keeps them flexible and water resistant.

I have always used Redback spiders, metal free, elastic sided.
Mrs Redfin is more of a wanderer when detecting, she loves the Reebok rapid response combat boots.

If you can get your hands on a pin pointer, that might help you make your decision,it might be a little easier taking that into a shop than your detector to see if they are metal free

Have been using the Redback Ubok boots for a few seasons now, the last pair I wore out to the point a sharp stick went through the sole, Mad  and was so impressed with the comfort and hard wearing of them that I bought some new ones and they are absolute crap, the leather on the toes started to peel off a couple of months in and unlike the last pair and even with ample dubbin rubbed into them they are not water tight, probably made in china now like everything else. Suspect

Wont be buying any more, time to try something else.

Grabbed the Pro Pointer and went shopping today.  Geezuz they get upset when they hear something going "Beep"
I was asked quite a few times what I was up too and had tell them before I got some service.
But finally, I found some boots with NO F***ing metal that fitted my thonged out feet   lol!
Oliver boots, absolutlely no metal and the price was reasonable.  How long they last, I have no idea but I'll let's ya's know.

Cliff, For someone who lived in thongs it is going to be a PITA lacing up every morning??
Elastic sided boots, the only way to go. :-)

I don't mind lace ups and it will give me something to do while enjoying the morning coffee.
Hope they are made for walking but they do have a 30 day wear and walk guarantee. If I'm not happy with them, I can take them back for exchange or refund.
