On heat

Post by Moneybox on Sun 25 Oct 2015, 8:28 pm

We met with a Mt Isa local today. He invited us to go out for a swing south of Cloncurry near Kuridala. We camped on the site overnight with everything open and a cool breeze blowing through. He arrived at 8am and the temperature was already on the rise. By midday I had packed it in. None of us had any gold but it was already over 40 degrees.

By 3:15 we were frying in the hot wind that blew in off the red dirt outside.

In these conditions it's best to detect from around four o'clock up until ten, and then drink hot tea!? in the shade - if there is any. Or, better still, look for a large, flat nugget, and use it to fan your brow!
