My Son found this on a 1869 Sth Australian goldrush area, its encrusted in ironstone..

nice, it's amazing the stuff you can find, hope ya son kept it and didn't chip away the ironstone. I keep all my little bits of junk as souvenirs.

Yeah he kept it just as you see, i think he did give it a light coat of oil to slow down the rust tho.

Nice one beepinpete. I find it exciting whenever I dig up old relics. My best one so far was a 1900 half gold sovereign, and it was in fantastic condition.

Have you ever had anyone from the museum or the like try and explain how rock and 'modern day' steel manages to come together like that?
